Sharonne R. Bonardi, Esq., J.D., M.B.A.

In January 2023, Sharonne R. Bonardi was appointed Executive Director for the Federation of Tax Administrators. Prior to that appointment, she served as Deputy Comptroller for the State of Maryland from October 1, 2015 until her retirement in December 31, 2022. Ms. Bonardi faithfully served the State of Maryland for more than 30 years in numerous roles, including: director, deputy director, assistant director, manager of the hearings and appeals, and attorney hearings officer within the Comptroller of Maryland’s Compliance Division. She has also served as a tax consultant for the Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulations, and as an administrative law judge with the Office of Administrative Hearings.   

 

Mrs. Bonardi received her B.A. cum laude in English from Trinity University in 1989. She received her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law, and her M.B.A. with honor from The Johns Hopkins University’s Carey School of Business. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1993.  Ms. Bonardi was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record in 2016 and 2019. 

 

Mrs. Bonardi is also a 2018 Maryland Center Club Women in Business Financial Services Trailblazer honoree, 2019 Maryland Leadership in Law honoree, recipient of the 2019 Maryland State Bar Association’s Shulbank Tax Excellence Award, and the 2021 Federation of Tax Administrators’ Harley T. Duncan Tax Excellence Award recipient. 

 

Mrs. Bonardi is vice-chairperson of State Employees Credit Union MD, Maryland’s largest state-chartered credit union. She is also a member of the Baltimore County Board of Appeals, the ABA SALT Executive Committee, Tax Notes Advisory, the Hartman School of Law’s Advisory Council, the New England State and Local Tax Forum, the William Donald Schaefer Center for Public Policy, and the Baltimore Center Stage. She is past president of both the Federation of Tax Administrators and the Northeastern State Tax Officials Association. She is also active in numerous philanthropic organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Links, Incorporated.

 

She and her husband, Jason, are proud parents of their son, Jordan.
