Rhode Island's Tax Administrator
Neena S. Savage was appointed as Rhode Island’s Tax Administrator on January 4, 2017, and currently serves on the FTA Board of Trustees as its Immediate Past President. Under Administrator Savage’s guidance, FTA implemented a new strategic plan grounded in accountability, sustainability, and transparency. This plan encourages communication, education, modernization, and standardization. She has served on the FTA Board of Trustees since 2017 and was selected as the president of the FTA Board of Trustees in 2022.
Savage is an attorney with over 30 years legal experience in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. She has been with the Rhode Island Division of Taxation since 2015 and has over 26 years of experience handling financial sector issues for the state of Rhode Island. Prior to joining the Division of Taxation, Neena was deputy director and executive counsel for the Department of Business Regulation, where she worked in several roles over her 18-year career with the agency. In the private sector, Neena worked as an Associate at Edwards & Angell. She started her career in Rhode Island almost thirty years ago at Rhode Island Legal Services in Peace Dale. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law of the American University.
