Joe Starr

Joe Starr joined the Federation of Tax Administrators as communication manager in 2022, and oversees all public-facing and member communications as well as media relations.

Joe has 14 years’ experience in state government communications, with six of those years serving the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. He worked for several years in corporate communications before coming to state service. Joe began his career as a newspaper journalist working as a reporter and copydesk editor for various Michigan based publications. He is originally from Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism.

Joe enjoys writing in his free time and is a published author of two novels. He currently lives in Virginia with his wife Sarah.
