Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary David Casey was elected to the FTA Board of Trustees for a term running from July 2024 through June 2026. 

Secretary Casey has nearly 30 years of experience working with state tax agencies to help improve taxpayer service and compliance. Prior to his role as secretary, Casey served as a principal industry expert in tax compliance and fraud for SAS Institute in Cary, North Carolina, where he assists tax agencies in the U.S. and internationally with the use of data analytics to identify and reduce tax fraud and maximize efficiency. Casey also served as the deputy secretary of Wisconsin DOR from 2019 to 2022, where he worked to help oversee the department and promote excellence in service for the state’s taxpayers and businesses.

Casey graduated from Grinnell College in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and from Carnegie Mellon University in 1995 with a Master of Public Administration in public policy and management. Casey has also worked in public service as assistant to the city manager for the city of Vancouver in Washington, been a principal for American Management Systems in Fairfax, Virginia, served as a senior consulting manager for Deloitte Consulting LLP in Chicago, Illinois, and as an executive consulting manager for Revenue Solutions Inc. in Pembroke, Massachusetts.

Casey resides in Madison with his husband Kevin. They enjoy exploring Wisconsin’s lakes and parks all year round.
