Tax Commissioner, State of Nebraska

Jim Kamm became Nebraska’s Tax Commissioner in September 2023 after being appointed by Governor Jim Pillen.

Prior to this appointment, Kamm most recently was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he oversaw and led UNO’s accounting, auxiliary services, business systems technology, cashiering, and student account functions. These business units included the controller’s office, food services and catering, childcare center, parking and transit services, bookstore, campus ID cards, and alumni center.

Before his position in higher education, Kamm had an accomplished banking career that spanned over 30 years, including leadership and management roles at several Nebraska based financial institutions.

A Columbus, Nebraska native, Commissioner Kamm received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, his Master of Business Administration degree from UNO, and he completed additional studies and Capstone work at the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking which was held at Georgetown University in Washington DC.

He and his wife Jerilyn live in Omaha, and they have three sons.
